Fans of late film writer, Roger Ebert respected his memory by dedicating a brand new statue to him today (October 23).

Ebert fan Scott Anderson, Jr. and the Public Art League have commissioned a life-size bronze sculpture of Roger to be placed outside the Virginia Theatre in Champaign, IL, the home of the critic's annual film festival, Ebertfest.

Through his Pulitzer Prize-winning work in film criticism, Roger Ebert wrote criticism for blockbusters such as “The Passion of the Christ,” “Pulp Fiction,” “Goodfellas,” “Schindler's List,” “Gladiator,” “The Hurt Locker” and many others.

Famous for his no-nonsense style of writing, one of Ebert’s criticism pieces states, ‘“This sucks on so many levels.’ - Dialogue from Jason X (2001) [;] Rare for a movie to so frankly describe itself. 'Jason X' sucks on the levels of storytelling, character development, suspense, special effects, originality, punctuation, neatness and aptness of thought.”
