Retrieving her excited little girl from school, Katie Holmes stepped out in Manhattan on Thursday (September 26).

The "Dawson's Creek" star wore a gray sweater, blue jean skirt, knee-high boots, and a gray hat while Suri dashed to their awaiting vehicle.

On Tuesday, the 34-year-old actress spoke about food and fashion with E! News at the Hellmann's 100th year celebration.

Asked if she makes meals at home, Katie replied, "I cook a fair amount. I do a mac and cheese. It sounds like mine isn't the best, but there's always room to grow, improve and I got some tips on what I could put in mine which always makes me happy."

Afterwards, the working mama talked about her clothing line Holmes & Yang, sharing, "People seem to like it and its fun, it's a different kind of challenge than making movies, but Jeanne [Yang] is wonderful and she's very inspiring so we have a good time, but yeah, of course it's nerve-wrecking because you're kind of putting yourself out there. You hope that people get it."
