Jay Z Teams with Barney’s New York for Christmas Collection

Gearing up for the Christmas season, Barney's New York announced it is teaming up with a well known rapper to create a new seasonal collection.

The clothing company and Jay Z's new line "A New York City Christmas" is headed to Barney's flagship stores from November 20th to January 3rd.

It will feature the 43-year-old rapper's collaborations with Proenza Schouler, Balenciaga, Balmain, Lanvin, Rick Owens, and the Elder Statesmen.

During an interview with Women's Wear Daily, Jay Z stated, "With this project, Barney's New York and I were able to take the slickenss, energy and innovation of New York and translate that into quality, timeless pieces."

"If you close your eyes and think about who best represents New York and stands for the city, you can't help but think about Shawn Carter," Barney's CEO Mark Lee explained. "Jay-Z is a born-and-bred New Yorker and one of the biggest cultural icons of our time."

Lee continued, "His reach spans across music, sports, business and fashion. He embodies so much that is 'New York.' He is a creative foce and an entrepreneur. The decision to partner with Jay-A was an easy one - he shares our sensibility, pass and love for New York."

Barney's plans to give 25% of the proceeds to Jay-Z's Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation. The collection's items range from $70 to $33,900.
