Weighing in at six pounds, once ounce, newborn Laiyah Shannon was welcomed into the world this past Tuesday (September 3) by her parents Monica (the R&B singer) and Shannon Brown (the Phoneix Suns basketball player).

It’s the couple’s first child together. Brown posted a photo from his Instagram account, and Tweeted, "I THANK GOD for her!!! JOY has been restored in my LIFE!!!"

Monica's sons from a previous relationship, eight-year-old Rodney and five-year-old Romelo, were also present for their baby sister’s arrival. 32-year-old Monica had a natural birth.

The Grammy winner and the NBA star first met in June 2010 while shooting the music video for her song "Love All Over Me." They married in secret six months later.
