Now that the summer movie season is officially over, it seems Tinseltown has outdone itself with some killer sales figures.
According to a report, the May-Labor Day box office earnings jumped 10.2% with moviegoers shelling out a whopping $4.7 billion to see their favorite flicks.
Among the top-earning films this year were “Iron Man 3” ($408 million), “Despicable Me 2” ($356 million), and “Man of Steel” ($290 million), while “Fast & Furious 6,” “Star Trek Into Darkness,” “Monsters University,” and “World War Z” all landed north of the $200 million mark.
On the other side of the coin, “The Lone Ranger,” “White House Down” and “After Earth” all failed to meet expectations despite their start-studded rosters.
