Stepping out for a promotional appearance, Jeff Daniels showed up on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” last night (July 8).

The “State of Play” actor was in the house to promote the new season of his hit show “The Newsroom,” though conversation quickly turned to a much different project.

Fallon asked whether or not Jeff would re-team with Jim Carrey for a sequel to their 1994 flick “Dumb and Dumber,” and Daniels confirmed that production is scheduled to commence in September with the Farrelly Brothers.

He added, “We’re middle-aged. We’re not pretending we aren’t. And we’re still that stupid,” much to the crowd’s delight.
