Amy Winehouse Died of Eating Disorder, Claims Brother

She was one of the most unique and spirited artists of her generation, so when Amy Winehouse passed away two years ago, the world was shaken.

And now the late “Rehab” singer’s brother Alex Winehouse has come forward to declare that his sister’s death wasn’t ultimately caused by drugs or alcohol.

Mr. Winehouse explained, "She would have died eventually, the way she was going, but what really killed her was the bulimia. Had she not have had an eating disorder, she would have been physically stronger."

Alex also noted that Amy picked up the habit from her friends in high school. "They stopped doing it, but Amy never really stopped. We all knew she was doing it but it's almost impossible [to tackle], especially if you're not talking about it."

As for his reason for speaking out, Winehouse added, "I just want to try to raise awareness of bulimia. It's a real dark, dark issue.”
