The Weinstein Co. Buys Rights to Reese Witherspoon Fronted Flick “Passengers”

It looks like fans of Reese Witherspoon will soon be able to see her in another big screen flick.

During this year's Cannes Film Festival, it was announced that the Weinstein Company has acquired the U.S. rights to the sci-fi romance movie, "Passengers."

In the film, two passengers (Witherspoon and Keanu Reeves) are aboard a spaceship that is headed for a faraway colony, however, Reeves' sleep chamber malfunctions, waking him 90 years before they are set to land at their destination.

Fearing the possibility of living a life of solitude, Keanu's character wakes up his fellow female passenger to join him on the journey where a romance blossoms between the two.

At this time no release date or production start dates have been announced but we are sure to hear more in the future as the Weinstein Co. is expected to spend a whopping $25 million on marketing the release.
