Adele Scores Top-Selling Album of 2012

It seems she can do no wrong these days, and Adele has just added yet another accolade to her resume- her 21 album was named the top-selling record of 2012!

The “Rolling in the Deep” songstress’ opus moved 8.3 million units worldwide last year, a feat it also accomplished in 2011 when it was actually released.

Add in Adele’s big Oscar win for her “Skyfall” theme song over the weekend, and she’s having a pretty fabulous week!

Coming in at number two, Taylor Swift’s Red sold 5.2 million copies, while One Direction (Taylor’s ex Harry Styles’ band) nabbed both third and fourth place for Up All Night (4.5 million) and Take Me Home (4.4 million).

In the singles realm, Carly Rae Jepsen is queen with 12.5 million sales of “Call Me Maybe.” Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to Know” was runner up with 11.8 million, and Psy scored third with 9.7 million in sales of “Gangnam Style.”
