With a plethora of Hollywood starlets in his little black book, John Mayer acknowledges that he may not have handled his relationships very well.

In an interview with "CBS Sunday Morning," the "Gravity" singer admits, "I was just a jerk."

He continues, "It’s very liberating when you finally realize it's impossible to make everyone like you. I wanted everybody to like me. I thought I was one shuck and jive away in every direction."

Previously, he's been linked to Jennifer Aniston, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Minka Kelly, and Taylor Swift. Lately, the 35-year-old musician has pretty much been in the spotlight solely for his dating habits and it's evident that he is currently linked to Katy Perry.

However, the reason for that is because he hasn't sang in about two years due to a persistent throat granuloma that he underwent surgery for twice.

Ahead of a benefit concert in Bozeman, Montana last month, John explained, "It's been a crazy couple years thinking that I got it and finding out I didn't. I went to the doctor a couple weeks ago, we looked at my throat and the thing is gone."

Hoping not to disappoint, he told the crowd to "lower your expectations. [My voice] is not going to sound like it normally sounds. I'm going to sing some songs for you for the first time in awhile. I'm going to do my best ... I'm going to try."
