She’s built a multi-million-dollar career on songs about relationships, and Taylor Swift opens up about her dating experiences in the new issue of Vibe magazine.

The “I Knew You Were Trouble” songstress begins by declaring her desire to stay single after splitting with Harry Styles back in December.

Taylor notes, “Independence is something I’ve always needed, from when I was young. But I love the idea of romance and falling in love. I’ve never really had a long relationship. So that’s something I think about for the future. It’s an interesting part of my personality: Part of me just wants to be alone.”

T. Swifty also explains that she’s determined to continue making great music and reaching fans of all ages. “I just know that if you’re not careful with things they can go away. I’ve seen people with careers that were great until they started taking them for granted. And I’m scared of that.”
