Bruce Jenner Announces “I Am A Woman” During Diane Sawyer Interview

Millions of viewers tuned in to ABC on Friday night (April 24) as Bruce Jenner chatted with Diane Sawyer about his much-publicized gender transformation process.

The often-emotional reality television star explained, “I am a woman. I was always very confused with my gender identity. I believe I was given the soul of a woman. My brain is much more female than it is male… For all intents and purposes I am a woman.”

Later in the interview, Sawyer picked up on some conservative political remarks and flat-out asked Bruce, “Are you a Republican?!” Jenner replied, “Yeah, is that a bad thing? I’m kind of more on the conservative side. Neither political party has a monopoly on understanding.”

And after the broadcast, which included plenty of footage of Bruce’s family members sharing their reactions to the news, Jenner’s mother Esther told press, “I think that ’20/20′ and Diane Sawyer did a fabulous job. I think it was very educational and I hope to get more education.”

Interestingly enough, many reactions on Twitter seemed positive until Bruce came clean about being a conservative Republican, at which time fans tweeted their disgust over his political alignments.
