Gwyneth Paltrow mocked for superfood ‘poverty’ diet

Many have criticised multi-millionaire actress Gwyneth Paltrow for her ridiculously expensive lifestyle advice which promotes pricey detox foods, designer clothes, and pass times like yoga and other activities that will lead you to the path of self discovery (because we all have time for that) and now the actress has declared she is going to 'slum it' by living off of food stamps.

The Iron Man actress previously hit back at those who slammed her for being out of touch with reality. “I am who I am; I can't pretend to be somebody who makes $25,000 a year,” she declared but now the actress is going to try and depend on food stamps, which more than 46 million Americans rely on to feed themselves and their families.

“We're walking in their shoes to see how far we get,” Paltrow declared on Twitter, after posting a photograph of the groceries she had purchased for $29 (AU$37), saying that this is what families on food stamps “have to live on for a week”.

Even with the star's attempts to ditch her lavish lifestyle in favour of a more ‘;down-to-Earth' one she is still facing a heap of backlash.
“Gwyneth Paltrow if trying to buy all groceries for $29 don't buy 7 limes and 2 different kinds of lettuce and avocado,” one respondent wrote. Others wondered if she had decided to blow her limited governmental assistance at Dean and Deluca, New York's gourmet food emporium.

Her basket-on-a-budget consisted of a dozen eggs and black beans, as well as whole grain rice, but also limes, coriander, kale, sweet corn, coriander, kale, sweet corn and an avocado. Knocking up a guacamole, Gwyn?

“Ah yes, organic soy beans and whole grain rice. She really nails American poverty,” wrote one respondent. "Why did she not buy pasta," another respondent demanded on Twitter. “Us poor people eat pasta when we can't afford kale.” Limes, which are notoriously pricey, seemed to provoke the most outrage and depict just how out of touch the actress was. “You could get a lot more for $29 if you shop at Walmart,” one critic said. “You think people on food stamps shop @goop.”

Supporters of her stint on food stamps, in aid of the hunger relief charity Foodbank New York City, have pointed out that the relatively small haul of healthy groceries she purchased with $29 highlights the difficulties for poor families of living healthily.
