Rita Ora says she ‘got no special treatment’ in audition for Fifty Shades role

She may appear on the screen for a very brief 90 seconds in her role as Mia Grey in Fifty Shades Of Grey but that doesn't mean that chart-topping singer Rita Ora didn't work hard to get the highly sought after part of Christian Grey's super stylish sister in the movie. In fact just in case there was any doubt about how she won the role Rita has now come forward and admitted that she auditioned just the same as all of the other big stars of the flick.

Talking in a new interview with fashion magazine InStyle Rita, 24, admits that while the film's director Sam Taylor-Johnson did tell her she should audition to become Mia that doesn't mean she received “any special treatment” and she feels she won the part fair and square based on her killer American accent.

She said: “I said I'd love to involved as I was such a fan of the book. And then Sam said, 'Well, why don't you audition?' And I said, 'Sure...I've got a few song ideas, I could send them over...' and she said, 'No, why don't you audition for the movie?' I auditioned like everybody else - there were a lot of other people in the frame. I didn't get any special treatment. I perfected my American accent, one thing led to another, and I got it."

The I Will Never Let You Down singer also confesses that she couldn't quite believe her luck when she landed the part but thought it was time she seized the opportunity and so she went for it. She added: "And I was like, 'What?, I've done a bit of acting, but honestly didn't expect to be put into that role. I thought, what have I got to lose?"

Rita - who missed the premiere of the movie despite playing a main character - admits in the chat with the April issue of the magazine that even if she had been turned down she would have taken it in her stride because she's no stranger to rejection. She said: "I've been told 'no' so many times in my career. It doesn't mean it's over...I can remember every single 'no'."
