Ryan Reynolds dishes about fatherhood and his baby’s name

Ryan Reynolds has revealed that he and his wife Blake Lively didn't call their newborn daughter Violet, despite a nurse tweeting that was the couple's chosen baby name. The Proposal star became a proud new father six weeks ago but told Extra that the rumours were false. “No that's not the name,” he said. “I don't want to get into that but I don't know where that came from.”

So it looks like we're back to square one when it comes to guessing his daughter's name, although he did give away a major hint before the birth. Speaking to eTalk back in November, the 38-year-old said, “I don't want a name that's anything pretentious or, like, Hollywood-y. So I'm going with Excalibur Anaconda Reynolds… That's if it's a girl.” Then again, we're pretty sure he was joking about that. At least we hope so!

But whilst he has remained tight-lipped about baby names, he did open up about adjusting to fatherhood and the lack of sleep that comes with it. “You are operating on a week's worth of sleep amortized over six months,” he said. “You don't get a lot of sleep, but it's amazing. It's weird to wake up in the middle of the night 45 times and always be in a good mood. I'm not used to that so that's fun.”

In fact, any kind of sleep is a treat now, or “pornographic” as he put it! “It's still so new that it's hard to conceive being away for more than seven hours at a time,” he told USA Today. “I had to go to Sundance this last week. I was more excited to get a good night's sleep. It was borderline pornographic for me.”

However, he'll have to get used to functioning with hardly any shut-eye, as Blake revealed that she was already planning on having more children just days after giving birth to their first child. The Gossip Girl star, 27, admitted, “I do want to just enjoy this moment. But I also feel like my first child is going to be the oldest sibling to the next kid, and that may change with each and every year.”

For now though, Ryan is happy with his little family of three and revealed that he's loving being in the company of his two gorgeous girls. "I'll take that any day,” he told E! News. “I grew up with three older brothers and I know the beatdown that they can cause. Also, I really like my home and growing up with three older brothers we made our house a wiffle house routinely, we put holes in just about everything so having a little girl is…I'll take it."
