Lorde Didn’t Win An Award, But Her Ballgaze Game Was Strong At The Golden Globes

Lorde missed out on the Golden Globes for Best Original Song - Motion Picture for track Yellow Flicker Beat from The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 soundtrack, which she also curated, but the 18 year-old has insisted she wasn't too disappointed because she actually had "FUN" at the star-studded ceremony on Sunday night.

The Kiwi singer missed out the award to John Legend and Common's 'Glory' for the critically acclaimed civil rights film, Selma, but she didn't seem too upset and admitted she thought that track was "awesome". Taking to Instagram the day after, Lorde wrote: "had an awesome night - didn't win but john did and he is awesome so yay. this was one of my first proper red carpets and i actually had FUN - wore a badass suit and beautiful jewellery and felt like me. today i sat in bed watching the good wife and eating chocolate. much luvvvvvv."

She also pointed out she'd, accidentally, made a ballgaze hand on the red carpet so did in fact win in a small way: "(also, i managed to accidentally but hilariously do a ballgaze hand in this photo, so i win)"

For her first big red carpet, Lorde really did stand out for her chic outfit. The 17 year-old chose a custom designed suit by Narciso Rodriguez, with bralet style crop-top, which was the perfect mix of high end-tailoring while maintaining her youthful, teenage edge. A lot of other people failed to nail their look on the red carpet, but Lorde's understated cool proves this fashion thing isn't too hard when you dress for yourself.

After the ceremony she headed over to InStyle and Warner Brothers after-party, where she hooked up with her "squad," which includes Taylor Swift, the girls from Haim and Jamie King. Sounding out her appreciation for her famous pals, she wrote on Twitter: "squad came out to celebrate baby's first golden globes last night (+ my cherubs @HAIMtheband) and it was everything."
