Jessie J For New Coaching Stint On The Voice

She quit the UK version after two seasons so she could focus on her music, but Jessie J is returning to The Voice franchise this year as Kylie Minogue's replacement on the Australian version.

The ‘;Bang Bang' singer joins Delta Goodrem and Ricky Martin on the fourth series of the talent contest, with Joel and Benji Madden sharing a team on doubled-up red chairs. Joel has been a coach on every season of the show, although his top-placed act has always finished 4th. will.i.am, who mentored Series 3's winner Anja Nissen, is leaving with Minogue after just one year.

"I love Australia, I can't wait to see what voices I'll discover,” Jessie said in a press release. I've enjoyed sharing my knowledge and experience in vocals and in music and really enjoyed being on The Voice UK for two series.”

Goodrem, who was on Series 2 before taking a break to film Voice Kids, said: "I'm thrilled to be starting the new year with incredible coaches on a show that I'm very proud of being a part of and looking forward to discovering great Australian talent.” Her re-appointment means this will be the first year with two female coaches - a feat the UK version has still not matched.

The Madden Brothers added: “We're looking forward to reuniting with Delta and Ricky as well as welcoming Jessie J to the show. This year is going to be an exciting one. Double the chair, double the fun. Let's go.”

Jessie replacing Kylie reverse-mirrors what happened last year in the UK edition, when Kylie replaced Jessie. Kylie only hung around for one season; leaving to focus on her Kiss Me Once Tour, which clashed with filming dates for the 2015 run. She has since been replaced by Rita Ora.

The show relaunched last weekend (January 10) to ratings slightly down on last year, but considerably higher than the weak second series in 2013.
