Angelina Jolie’s Unbroken ‘Wasn’t Good Enough’ For Golden Globes

Angelina Jolie's latest directorial offering Unbroken didn't get a single nomination at this year's Golden Globe Awards, with insiders claiming the actress was "hurt" her World War II epic was left out on Sunday night and that's the reason the actress and husband Brad Pitt didn't attend the ceremony, despite his company Plan B producing Selma, which was up for a string of awards.

The movie, based on the life of Olympian and US prisoner of war Louis Zamperini, has been snubbed so far in award season, despite Jolie hinting at hopes for Oscar glory when the movie was first released last year. According to the New York Post, the 38 year-old is seriously annoyed about this, a source telling them: “Angelina's hurt. She's been upset that the film was overlooked.”

So why was the epic unable to score even one nomination? According to one member of the Hollywood Foreign Press, star power alone isn't enough to score a nomination as the Globes tries to be more about craft than column inches.

They told the Post: “A few years ago, she would have been in,” but apparently the material just didn't measure up.

It also failed to get any Screen Actors Guild or BATFA nominations, but has picked up nominations for the Art Directors Guild Awards and Critics' Choice Movie Awards. Don't feel too bad for Ang, Leonardo DiCaprio has been waiting for an Oscar for 20 years and this is only her third time directing and her first proper feature length film. She's already got a Best Supporting Actress Oscar, an honouary Oscar and recently was made an honouary dame by the Queen. The movie was clearly good enough for the Pope though, with Unbroken getting a special screening at Vatican City, where she also met the religious leader, so it's not all bad.
