Taylor Swift Denies Nicki Minaj Billboard Number One To Win Christmas Chart Double

Taylor Swift has more reason than most to celebrate than most this Christmas as she officially holds the top spot on both the Billboard Top 200 AND Hot 100 charts. Her enormous slice of pop perfection 1989, which has sat atop of the album charts for seven weeks, slipping just once as One Direction nabbed the number one for a week, sold a further 375,000 copies in its eighth week on sale bringing its domestic total to 3.36 million. If she can sell more than 100,000 copies of the Frozen soundtrack this week, Swifty will be able to boast the biggest selling album of the year across the pond, despite only being available since October 27, which at this rate is looking more than likely.

And when you'd have thought everybody has a copy of 1989, fans are still downloading her latest single Blank Space in their hundreds of thousands, as the second single to be lifted from her first officially documented pop album sits for another week at number one on the single's tally. Can anyone put an end to Taylor's reign?

Even Nicki Minaj, who released one of the most anticipated albums of the year last week with The Pinkprint, couldn't tempt music lovers away from Taylor. Her third studio album lands at number two on the Christmas chart, a much healthier start than its number 22 entry here in the UK, ahead of Pentatonix's That's Christmas at number three.

1989 continues to dominate the Billboard Top 200 (Big Machine)

J. Cole drops to number four with his latest release Forest Hills Drive while D'Angelo's surpise comeback album after 15 years away, Black Messiah rounds off this week's top five. Sam Smith, who became the only British artist to sell a million copies of one album in the US in 2104 last week, climbs to number six with his debut The Lonely Hour ahead of One Direction who stay put for another week at number seven.

Ed Sheeran and Garth Brooks both climb a place each to numbers eight and nice with x and Man Against Machine while rock icons AC/DC's long awaited Rock or Bust slides five places to complete this week's top 10. Over on the Hot 100, the Brits have taken over this week's top five with Hozier, Mark Ronson and Ed Sheeran trailing Taylor at numbers two, three and respectively.

Meghan Trainor's proved she's more than just a flash in the pan as her second single Lips Are Moving completes the top five. Sam Smith drops a place to number five while Ariana Grande's Love Me harder and Nick Jonas's Jealous both climb into this week's top 10 at seven and eight. Maroon 5's Animals falls to eight while Meghan Trainor's All About That bass clings into the top 10 at number 10.
