“The Colbert Report” Set To End December 2014, Comedy Central is “Incredibly” Proud of Stephen

Fresh off the exciting new regarding Stephen Colbert's new gig, Comedy Central announced “The Colbert Report” impending end date.

On Thursday (April 10), the network released a statement, which read, “Comedy Central is proud that the incredibly talented Stephen Colbert has been part of family for nearly two decades. We look forward to the next eight months of the ground-breaking ‘Colbert Reporter” and wish Stephen the very best.”

Colbert told the New York Times that his outspoken character is ending with the show. “I won’t be doing the new show in character, so we’ll all get to find out how much of him was me. I’m looking forward to it.”

As previously reported by GossipCenter, just a week after David Letterman announced his retirement plans, CBS reported that Stephen is taking over "Late Show" and signed a 5-year deal.
