Meryl Streep: Bring Back Equal Rights Amendment!

Always an avid feminist, Meryl Streep decided to spend her 66th birthday working to get the Equal Rights Amendment added to the US Constitution.

While Congress passed the amendment in 1972, only 35 states have ratified it, and the “Out of the Woods” actress thinks it’s high time that changes.

Streep wrote letters and sent books to Congress, stating, "A whole new generation of women and girls are talking about equality – equal pay, equal protection from sexual assault, equal rights. I am writing to ask you to stand up for equality – for your mother, your daughter, your sister, your wife, or yourself -- by actively supporting the Equal Rights Amendment."
