WATCH: Zayn Malik cries on stage during last ever performance with One Direction

If seeing that clip of our favourite curly haired cutie Harry Styles apparently crying on stage when it surfaced yesterday was all a bit much for you then you best look away now because the latest clip doing the rounds in the world of Directioners is of Zayn Malik shedding a tear during what appears to be his last ever performance with the band. Why are you doing this to us?

While the video of Harry has since been shown to be his reaction to getting hit in the face with a glow stick that was chucked on stage and not him crying at the loss of Zayn after all, it's a clear case of the wet eyes for Zayn in this footage from One Direction's performance in Hong Kong on March 18 - the last time he ever performed with the band.

A reviewer from the South China Morning Post has already claimed that Zayn, 22, “struggled to smile even once” during the show and this video posted to Vine seems to back up that theory entirely as he is seen welling up as he sings in to the microphone.

Zayn has spoken out about his departure from the band for the first time today and admitted that he had been unhappy "for a while" and felt he had to go so that he could stop doing what was best for everyone else and finally be true to himself. He also confirmed that he was still friends with his former bandmates Harry, Liam Payne, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson and that his fiance Perrie Edwards was not to blame for his decision.

The band announced that they would continue as a four-piece on Wednesday when Zayn's decision to leave was revealed to their distraught fans. The statement read: "We're really sad to see Zayn go, but we totally respect his decision and send him all our love for the future. The past five years have been beyond amazing, we've gone through so much together, so we will always be friends. The four of us will now continue. We're looking forward to recording the new album and seeing all the fans on the next stage of the world tour."

Zayn's own statement added: "My life with One Direction has been more than I could ever have imagined. But, after five years, I feel like it is now the right time for me to leave the band. I'd like to apologise to the fans if I've let anyone down, but I have to do what feels right in my heart. I am leaving because I want to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight. I know I have four friends for life in Louis, Liam, Harry and Niall. I know they will continue to be the best band in the world."
