Hugh Jackman wants Wolverine to have a slice of the action in new Deadpool movie

Hugh Jackman has revealed that he is rooting for a Wolverine cameo in the upcoming X-Men spin-off Deadpool. The Marvel film, based on the classic comic starring Ryan Reynolds in the title role, was finally confirmed back in September after months of speculation and teasers. And because, we just haven't seen enough of Wolverine in a total of 10 X-Men movies so far, the Aussie hunk wants his most prized role to get a lice of the action.

While promoting his new movie Chappie, the 46-year-old told MTV: "They are definitely enemies in the comics and they always spark off well together, so I'd be open to that idea."

The characters previously faced each other in 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine, when the X-Man's rival relationship first developed with Wade Wilson, who later becomes Deadpool.

Jackman, who recently admitted he wants to play Wolverine “until I die” after watching Michael Keaton in Birdman is already lined up to reprise his role a stye comic-book icon in X-Men: Apocalypse set for release July, 2016. And with Channing Tatum gearing up to star in a standalone picture featuring fan favourite Gambit, we're going to take a stab in the dark and say Wolverine's probably going to be popping up in that too.

Leaked test footage of the comic-book favourite surfaced online back in July 2014,showing Reynolds dressed in the red attire, singing along to Hollaback Girl – a man of great taste! Frenzy surrounding the clip lead to the studio giving the green light for the film, which is slated for a Valentine's Day weekend release.

"Now, we get to make the movie," he told Yahoo! Movies. "We don't get to make it with the budget of most superhero movies, but we get to make it the way we want to make it, so that's even better than having a catered lunch."

Deadpool recently cast Morena Baccarin as the anti-hero's love interest, while its leading man recently teased a picture of his character's iconic pink and black mask.
