GOT’s George R. R. Martin channels his inner Taylor Swift in ‘Blank Page’ parody

We've heard a lot of Taylor Swift parodies in our time, but we think the latest Game of Thrones inspired spoof takes the cake, especially given that it's sung from the perspective of show creator George R.R. Martin, and features the author as you've never seen him before...

A new video from 'Nerdist' has completely revamped the Swift hit ‘;Blank Space,' giving it a ton of new lyrics and changing its title to the aptly named ‘;Blank Page'. The spoof sees Martin, well an actor pretending to be him, anyway, singing about how you could “die in a sword fight, or burn in dragon's flames,” either way, he has a “blank page, baby” and he'll write your name. In other words... nobody is safe from the sporadic deaths the writer pens.

Unlike Swift's version of the chart-dominating track, which sees her sing about her relationship drama, this parody hones in on Martin's ability to kill off pretty much any character he wants. The skit also sees the screenwriter, who is currently working on his sixth book, 'The Winds of Winter' in the 'A Song of Ice and Fire' series, dance around without a care in the world and engage in a heated fight with GOT's leading lady Daenerys Targaryen (who is played by actress Emily Rudd instead of Emilia Clarke in this instance).

"Zombies, axes, giants, blades/ So many ways for a gruesome fate/ Red weddings, wilding raids/ Grab your head and smash your brains to mush/ Bones to dust, decapitation is a must," is just one of the fitting lyrics writer Freddy Scott creates. Highlighting all of the wild and wonderful themes from the award-winning show, from incest to sword fights, Nick Mundy, the comedian who portrays Martin in the hilarious video, said that the video was shot last week over 12 hours at “a weird castle mansion in Hollywood.”

"He's just the most excited guy in the world about what he's doing. So that's kind of the approach I took," Mundy told The Hollywood Reporter of crafting the parody version of Martin. "He's killing everyone and has brothers banging sisters and stuff, but he's just the most excited guy in the world.”
