Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston have managed to avoid each other for the last six years in Hollywod, despite LaLa-Land being such a small town, but they both hit the 20th Annual Critics Choice Awards at the Hollywood Palladium. The first Mrs Pitt, was up for Best Actress for her role in Cake, while Angelina scored a Best Director nomination for Unbroken though both ladies went home empty handed.
Jennifer lost out to Julianne Moore for her role in Still Alice and seemed close to tears as Moore picked up her award, but not exactly because she missed out. In her acceptance speech Moore praised her co nominees and in particular Jennifer, saying she felt her "pain," in her performance as Claire Simmons an acerbic woman, who becomes obsessed with the suicide of a woman in her chronic-pain support group. According to media reports, while both Jen and Angie have publicly insisted there isn't a problem between them after Brad and Jen's married broke down after he filmed Mr and Mrs Smith with Jolie, they were seated apart during the ceremony.

Brad didn't accompany his wife to the ceremony and she didn't look too bothered to not have him on her arm as she stunned in a silver floor length gown. Jen did bring her other half, Justin Theroux along though, and opted for a very out of character outfit for the night - a red suit. Usually a stickler for a safe LBD, Aniston showed off her cleavage in the Gucci suit, accessorising with gold chains.
Looks like the pair were on their best behaviour and things passed pretty politely, with the pair keeping a safe distance during the awards, though they did mingle with other guests. The last time both Ang and Jen were at the same event was the 2009 Oscars, where Jolie sat front row with Brad as his ex presented an award just a few feet away on stage. Both ladies have been pretty cool about not playing up the well documented rivalry between them, so it's no surprise they handled it with class last night.

In 2008 Jen told Vogue Magazine that Angelina hadn't been "very cool," about Brad and somethings she'd said about the actor while he was still with Jennifer. "That stuff about how she couldn't wait to get to work every day? That was really uncool," she admitted.
"There was stuff printed there that was definitely from a time when I was unaware that it was happening. I felt those details were a little inappropriate to discuss."

However it seems she's moved on now and told Harper's Baazar last year she wasn't holding a grudge against the actress: “Listen, people can do unforgivable things, but you have to let it go and say, ‘;Look, we're all human beings. We make mistakes'. To hold any kind of resentment is like taking rat poison and waiting for the rat to die.”
While Jen probably wasn't that happy to see the arrival of Jolie, there was one person she was pretty excited to see. As Chris Hemsworth took to the stage to present Ron Howard with the Louis XIII Genius Award, she was spotted mouthing "beautiful," by the cameras. We couldn't agree more Jen.
