Beyonce And Ed Sheeran Top Google’s Most Searched For Celebrities In 2014

Beyonce and Ed Sheeran have been named the most searched for celebrities in 2014, according to Google. The search engine named Queen Bey the most sought after woman on the web over the past 12 months. With lift-gate, her surprise self-titled album and multiple world tours; it has been quite the year for the superstar.

Sadly, we're going to guess the worldwide web was more focused on her personal life than her groundbreaking fifth album. Her marriage to Jay Z has been rumoured to be on the rocks and the world went bananas over THAT video of Solange appearing to whack Jay Z at the May 3 Met Ball in what became the most scandalous moment of the year.

But of course there was also her On The Run world tour with hubby Jay Z. The power couple unveiled a series of big budget promos and teased us Brits with the possibility of adding London dates – which never came to light - before she was back on the road for the second leg of her Mrs. Carter Show in support of her flawless fifth album, Beyonce.

Despite being the most popular actress in the world and being in the centre of one of the biggest storms of the year with Augusts' nude leaks, Jennifer Lawrence was the second most searched for female on Google. Trailing behind the two powerhouses was Katy Perry, Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift who finished the top five.

Bizarrely, Ed Sheeran, who couldn't have been shrouded in less scandal this year if he tried, was the most searched for male in the UK this year. However, although his personal life may not have been as eventful as Bey or JLaw's, when it came to his music Ed's success has literally been off the charts. His sophmore album x sold over a million copies this year in the UK alone, spawning two number one singles and a sold out three night residency at Wembley Stadium.

The lovable red head beat Jay Z to the top of the poll with Harry Styles, Benedict Cumberbatch and David Beckham completing the top five.
