The Apprentice: Fired Lauren Riley Slams Show’s Editing

Lauren Riley became the latest candidate to be fired from The Apprentice last night when she was taken into the boardroom for not contributing enough to the task in New York. And now, the solicitor has revealed that she was "frustrated" with the way she was edited during her time on the show.

Revealing that no one got to see how much she actually contributed to the tasks, Lauren told EntertainmentWise: "I think it's really difficult because it's a task filmed over five days and outside of the boardroom you only see half an hour of it so of course there's a storyline", before explaining of last night's episode and accusations from Mark about her not doing enough: "I felt the editing reflected that but you know, it's frustrating because not all of your contributions can be shown and then it backs up what other people are saying and that's difficult to take. Throughout the process I have shown that I do contribute and that I certainly have been around tasks and that I have been very friendly and very visible and you know, very clear that I was getting involved up until this episode and it can be quite hard to watch when you only watch a snippet of what happens."

Lauren, who went to New York with Mark and Felipe, in last night's episode when they were tasked with creating a new drink for the American market, also pulled Daniel and Mark up on their transparency in the competition. Declaring that Daniel picked on her because he had to stay in London, Lauren said: "I think Daniel's comments about me going to New York for a free trip were pretty see through. He was obviously very angry that he wasn't chosen to go to New York so he obviously said things against me and my involvement. I think he felt that it would make himself look better, and justified why he should have gone there because he was making mistakes in his part in the UK and he tried to deflect that by saying he should have gone somewhere. I felt that was quite transparent. I think he highlighted how weak that argument was by saying that I should be the person to go because of my lack of contribution when he wasn't even in the same country as me. It's so ridiculous."

"I think it's rather transparent that Mark is playing a game", Lauren went on to say of the Australian sales manager who bent the truth about his job to take on the role of Project Manager. "Throughout it, Mark said to me how strong a candidate he thought I was and about my contribution, he described it as superb...In the boardroom, he turned on me in the boardroom so he's clearly playing a game. But to be fair to him he's playing it really well. He's going to do very well but a lot of people have identified Mark as a game player." Hmm, this should be interesting to see how long Mark can go on for. Lord Sugar's not an easy man to fool.

Lauren also believes that Mark and Daniel know their arguments are "entertaining" (BBC Pictures)

The fired candidate also spoke of how unfortunate it is that Lord Sugar doesn't watch what the candidates get up to on their tasks. She said: "I think it's a shame that Lord Sugar doesn't actually get to see what you do a task. That task was filmed over five days. He doesn't get to see what we contribute and what actually happened and that's a shame because his decision is based on second hand knowledge if you like."

What do you think? Was Lauren the right candidate to be fired?
