Angelina Jolie Fronts Variety & Discusses Deep Love for Louis Zamperini

She’s preparing for the release of “Unbroken,” and during promotions Angelina Jolie sat down with Variety magazine to discuss the man who inspire the film – Louis Zamperini.

The World War II film follows the story of Zamperini, an Olympic distance runner who managed to survive 45 days at sea in a life raft. Unfortunately, he was found by the Japanese and taken in as a prisoner of war.

Louis passed away earlier this year and Angelina has nothing but fond memories of him and the friendship they developed during the film’s production.
“They say you should never meet your heroes, because they often disappoint you, but Louis really was one of the greatest people ever.”

Zaperini’s children, Luke and Cynthia, told the mag that their father felt the same way about Angie.

“The night our father passed away, she and Brad came to our home and took such beautiful care of us. They cried with us, they held us, they made a soft place for us to fall.”

“At one point I told her, ‘My father was really in love with you.’ And she said, ‘I was in love with him!’” Luke continued, “It was a very close and very affectionate relationship built on so much admiration and respect.”

“Unbroken” is set to hit theaters on Christmas Day.
