Stepping out for a social call, Jake Gyllenhaal met up with a friend in the SoHo neighborhood of New York City on Monday (April 28).

The “Brokeback Mountain” hunk looked a bit unkempt in a bushy beard and slicked-back ponytail as he chatted with his pal.

As it turns out, Jake is flying solo these days after splitting up with his latest beautiful girlfriend Alyssa Miller earlier this year.

An insider told press, "They fizzled out. It happened a while ago—before the holidays. He's back on the scene. Things were really good between Jake and Alyssa right up until he had to leave for L.A. to go shoot a movie [Nightcrawler] in the fall. Then the distance just really got to them."
