One Direction Takes Over Top Spot at the Box Office with “This is Us”

Directioners led the charge at the box office this weekend, putting "One Direction: This is Us" in the top spot for August 30-September 1, 2013.

The documentary, which follows the members of the popular boy band as they head on tour, grabbed $8.8 million on Friday and took in a three day total of $16.9 million.

After spending two weeks at number one, Lee Daniels' "The Butler" finished a close second with a $14.8 million weekend.

Rounding out the top five in earmarked earnings are Jennifer Aniston and Jason Sudeikis' comedy "We're the Millers" ($12.7 million) in third, Disney's animated "Planes" ($7.7 million) in fourth and the newcomer "Instructions Not Included" ($7.5 million) in fifth.
