Merritt Wever Talks Emmy Acceptance Speech

She took home the trophy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, and Merritt Wever made quite an impression at the 65th Primetime Emmy Awards last night (September 22).

After blurting out, “Holy sh*t,” to her costar Edie Falco, the “Nurse Jackie” starlet took the stage at the Nokia Theatre and simply stated, “Oh my God, thanks so much. Thank you so much. Um, I gotta go. Bye!”

Once backstage, Wever noted, "I wanted to thank a lot of people – it's happening again. I wanted to thank everybody at Showtime. I wanted to thank most of all Edie Falco. I wanted to thank David and Gary and Matt at Showtime. I wanted to thank Liz Brixius and Linda Wallem, Richie Jackson, and…I wanted to thank Edie Falco very badly. It's hard to do those [Sighs]. Sorry."

When asked how she felt, Merritt confessed, "I don’t know yet. I'm scared honestly. I'm scared. I'm scared because it was unexpected so I don’t know how I feel yet. I mean I have therapy next week."
