He loves a good challenge, and Gerard Butler is in talks to join the cast of the forthcoming epic adventure “Gods of Egypt.”

The Summit Entertainment project already snatched up “Game of Thrones” hunk Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and director Alex Proyas, but they’d love to snag the “300” stud as well.

If he signs on, Butler will likely play the role of an ancient Egyptian god who reigns over the desert, storms, and foreigners.

Though there’s not much pre-production information, the synopsis states, “A common thief joins a mythical god on a quest through Egypt.”
