She is used to being in front of an audience, but this December, Carrie Underwood will be taking on a whole new platform!

On Monday (September 16), fans got their first look at the "American Idol" alum in her new role as Maria Von Trapp in the live TV production of "The Sound of Music."

Taking to Twitter, Carrie's team was the first to show off the photo, writing, "Here's a first look of @carrieunderwood as Maria von Trapp in The Sound of Music. Airing 12/5 on @NBC."
