She was once known for her clean cut, good girl image, but recently, Miley Cyrus has gone for an edgier style, and in an upcoming interview the "We Can't Stop" songstress explains the transformation.

Sitting down with her pal Kelly Osbourne for a chat recorded for Ms. Osbourne's show "Fashion Police," the 20-year-old said, "It’s called puberty. Everyone’s done it from the beginning of time. I’m just doing it in the spotlight so you’re zooming in on it and you’re fascinated by it."

On shedding her Disney image, she continued, "I don’t think people understand how I’m a real human being."

Though she has taken a lot of criticism, the Nashville native hopes to use her fame for good and has been a participant in Marc Jacobs' "Protect the Skin You're In" campaign, which raises money for cancer research.

On the subject she remarked, “I think if I can just use where I am in my career and use myself as a pedestal to do good — even if it means getting naked, ’cause more people are gonna look at it.”
