Thursday’s announcement of Ben Affleck as Batman has fans of the franchise far from pleased, but one Hollywood director thinks the choice is a good one.

“Avengers” director Joss Whedon tweeted on Friday (August 23) “Affleck’ll crush it. He’s got the chops, he’s got the chin — just needs the material. Affleck & Cavill toe to toe — I’m in.”

Though those who are upset with the choice do not necessarily dislike Affleck, they feel he is just not right for the role as the caped crusader.

Ben will star alongside Henry Cavill, who will reprise his role of Superman in the sequel to “Man of Steel.” The movie is slated to be released in July of 2015.
