Back in 2008 her mother, brother, and nephew were shot to death by her sister’s estranged husband William Balfour, and Jennifer Hudson is still healing from the tragedy.
During the Do Something Awards last night (July 31), the “American Idol” alum got teary when accepting her trophy in recognition of her work with the Julian D. King Gift Foundation.
Hudson explained, "Wow, I wasn't gonna cry but I'm a cry baby, so I can't help it! It's one thing to be a celebrity, but it's another thing to make a change."
