Denzel Leaves Hollywood Lights for Broadway “Sun”

No matter how many Hollywood movies they make, some celebs simply can’t resist showing off their acting chops on the boards of Broadway.

Among them: Denzel Washington.

The two-time Oscar winner will star in the revival of Lorraine Hansberry’s “A Raisin in the Sun,” beginning next March. Washington last appeared on the New York stage in 2010, when he won a Tony award for his performance in “Fences.”

Sidney Poitier and Sean Combs also took on the role of Walter Lee Younger in previous “Raisin” productions. At age 58, Washington’s version of the character will be significantly older.
