She’s never one to back down from a challenge, and Cameron Diaz just signed on to star in the forthcoming remake of “Annie.”

The “Sweetest Thing” actress will play the iconic role of Miss Hannigan, a part previously manned by Carol Burnett in the 1982 flick and Jane Lynch in the stage revival.

Cameron’s addition to the cast comes just after Sandra Bullock ended her “early talks” to take the gig, and it seems that Diaz will be the perfect fit.

Meanwhile, Jamie Foxx has already hopped on board to play Daddy Warbucks, and Quvenzhane Wallis replaced Willow Smith in the titular role of Annie.
