Riding high after his Oscar nomination, Bradley Cooper nabbed the lead role in Steven Spielberg's next project, "American Sniper."

With the backing of powerhouses DreamWorks and Warner Bros., the film will tell the story of Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, whose autobiography was optioned by the "Silver Linings Playbook" star himself.

Based on "American Sniper: The Autobiography Of The Most Lethal Sniper In U.S. Military History," the movie chronicles Kyle's journey from rodeo cowboy to SEAL Chief with the highest number of sniper kills in U.S. military history.

In the meantime, fans of Bradley can see him reprise his role as Phil on May 24th in "The Hangover Part III."
