Stepping out for a promotional appearance, Mary J Blige showed up at ABC Studios in New York City today (January 28).

The “Family Affair” songstress was joined by Angela Bassett for an interview on “Good Morning America” to talk about their new movie “Betty and Coretta.”

According to the synopsis, the film is about Coretta Scott King and Dr. Betty Shabazz, the widows of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X, respectively, and how they teamed up after their husbands (who didn’t get along) were killed.

Blige explained, “That’s what drew me to the story- the fact that they were friends and they looked at the bigger picture to live out their husbands’ legacies to keep the dream alive, so to speak.”
